CG NEWS: Quality check of material distributed in Anganwadi centers will be done, report sought in 15 days

Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government has taken a tough stand on the quality of material being distributed in Anganwadi centres across the state. The Women and Child Development Department has formed a special investigation committee in this regard, which will investigate the materials sent to Anganwadi centres in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur and Surguja districts.Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade has taken serious cognizance of the complaints received regarding the quality of the materials and has ordered the departmental secretary Shammi Abidi to conduct an immediate inquiry. The minister said, “The quality of the material related to the nutrition of children and women is the top priority. Any kind of negligence in this will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the culprits.”vc

The inquiry committee comprises experts from various departments:

  • Joint Director (Finance), Directorate of Women and Child Development – Chairman
  • Representative nominated by Managing Director, CSIDC – Member
  • Technical experts from GEC Raipur and private companies – Member
  • Programme Officer and Assistant Director, ICDS of the concerned districts – Coordinator

Apart from physical inspection and quality testing, the committee has also been directed to send suspicious samples to the laboratory for scientific analysis. This step has been taken to ensure that the nutritional material being provided in Anganwadi centres is completely safe and as per the standards.

The investigation committee will have to submit a detailed report within 15 days, on the basis of which the Women and Child Development Department will take further action.
