Kalagram will be the platform of artists’ dreams: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai
Chhattisgarh government will give 10 acres of land

A grand and attractive Kalagram will be established in front of Purkhauti Muktangan in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. For this, 10 acres of land will be given free of cost by the Chhattisgarh government. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held in Mahanadi Mantralaya Bhawan in Nava Raipur on 4 June under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. Its objective is to promote art, culture and crafts in Chhattisgarh. On the demand of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, approval has been given to allot about 10 acres of land free of cost in Sector-24, Village Uparwara of Nava Raipur for Kalagram.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai says that the establishment of Kalagram is a historic step towards getting the traditional art, culture and crafts of Chhattisgarh recognized at the national and international level. This will not be just a structure but a dream platform for our artists, which will help them to showcase their talent and get livelihood opportunities. Our government wants to give a global platform to folk art and handicrafts by connecting them with the spirit of self-reliant India.
This Kalagram will be a dedicated centre for craftsmen, folk artists and traditional artisans, which will promote cultural exchange and showcase the art, culture and rich heritage of Chhattisgarh while acting as a hub of creative economy. All expenses including construction, operation and conservation of this centre will be borne by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
It is noteworthy that this land identified by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran is located in front of Purkhauti Muktangan, which is connected to the main road on two sides and is considered suitable for Kalagram. Since Nava Raipur Vikas Pradhikaran is a self-financed institution, the state government will pay the premium and land rent reimbursement amount to the authority. This decision will not only strengthen the cultural prosperity of Chhattisgarh, but will also provide a permanent platform for local artisans and craftsmen to exhibit their art at the national level.
