Another step towards a new beginning Navapara UCHC

Raipur, 07 July 2025

Realising the vision of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai to expand healthcare services, the Urban Community Health Centre (UCHC) at Nawapara in Ambikapur district has achieved a historic milestone in the field of cancer treatment. On Friday, an innocent child suffering from neuroblastoma was successfully given the fourth cycle of chemotherapy at Nawapara UCHC. This is the first time that chemotherapy has been given to a child cancer patient at Nawapara CHC, which is an important step towards increasing the reach and quality of healthcare services in the state.

Providing chemotherapy to children at community health centers was considered a rarity, due to which children suffering from cancer had to travel to district hospitals or big cities for treatment. Navapara UCHC has set a new example by changing this age-old practice. The main objective of this initiative is to ensure that children suffering from cancer can get quality treatment locally, reducing the travel and financial burden on their families.

On this occasion, the medical officer and oncologist said, this is not just a treatment, but the beginning of a hope. Earlier, children had to be sent to medical college or big hospital for chemotherapy, but now we have started this facility in Navapara CHC. This is the result of the collective hard work and service spirit of our team.

The entire medical team, including doctors, staff nurses, technicians, and pharmacists, were thanked for this successful initiative. It was announced that in the coming time, efforts will be made to provide treatment to cancer patients here. This step will take Navapara CHC towards becoming a model cancer treatment center, which is an important part of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s vision to strengthen health facilities statewide.

This success has been possible due to the guidance of the District Collector, unwavering support for cancer patients, tireless efforts of public representatives, efforts of the Chief Medical and Health Officer to ensure availability of medicines and the tireless dedication and determined service of the Center in-charge Dr. Sheela Netam and all the staff nurses of Navapara.

This historic development not only boosts the morale of the health workers of Navapara UCHC but also brings new hope for the patients suffering from cancer and other serious diseases in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. It shows that the state government is committed to making health services accessible and accessible to the last person.
