Historical growth in GST collection in Chhattisgarh: Tops the country with 18% growth rate

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today held a review meeting of the Commercial Tax (GST) Department at Mahanadi Bhawan located in the Secretariat. He received detailed information about the work of the department and revenue collection and gave instructions to work on measures to increase tax collection.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the tax amount is used in the development works of the country and the state, so everyone should pay taxes honestly. Shri Sai said that strict action should be taken against those who evade tax (GST) and tax recovery should be ensured from them. During the meeting, officials informed that in the financial year 2024-25, the state received a total tax revenue of Rs 23,448 crore from GST and VAT, which is 38% of the total tax revenue of the state. Chhattisgarh has achieved a GST growth rate of 18%, which is the highest in the country.
Finance and Commercial Tax (GST) Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary shared departmental information in the meeting. Chief Minister Shri Sai appreciated the efforts made by the department for GST collection and said that continuous efforts should be made to increase collection in accordance with the rules. He also discussed in detail with the departmental officials on cases of tax evasion and measures to deal with them.
Chief Minister Shri Sai directed to take strict action against those who take undue advantage by using fake bills, double book keeping and wrong tax rates. He praised the innovative initiatives of the department and said that the average time limit for GST registration has been reduced from 13 days to 2 days.
In the meeting, the officials gave information about the major actions taken recently by the GST department and the recovery of tax evasion amount. In the meeting, it was told that due to the actions taken by the department, the tax revenue of the government is continuously increasing.
It is noteworthy that GST offices have been established in all the 33 districts of the state, due to which the work of tax collection and GST related services is being carried out with transparency and timeliness.
Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Mukesh Kumar Bansal, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Rahul Bhagat and Commissioner of Commercial Tax Mr. Pushpendra Meena along with senior officers were present in the meeting.
