Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai will launch the state-wide Charan Paduka distribution scheme in a grand and grand program organized at Tapkara in Jashpur district on June 21. On this occasion, the Chief Minister will distribute Charan Paduka to women of tendu leaf collector families. With this, another promise made by the Chhattisgarh government to the tendu leaf collectors of the state will be fulfilled.
It is worth mentioning that the Chhattisgarh government in its Sankalp Patra had promised to restart the Charan Paduka Yojana, which was discontinued by the previous government. This scheme being restarted by the sensitive government of Chhattisgarh is an important initiative towards ensuring dignity and convenience of the tendu leaf collector families of the state. The government has approved Rs 40 crore for the implementation of this scheme. This scheme will directly benefit the women of 12 lakh 40 thousand tendu leaf collector families of the state, who will be distributed Charan Paduka free of cost.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the priority of our government is always to provide justice and facilities to the last person in the line. Tendu leaf collector families have an invaluable contribution to the state’s economy and forest produce based livelihood. Charan Paduka Yojana was a promise of our Sankalp Patra, which we are going to fulfill. This is not just the distribution of Charan Paduka, but a symbol of self-respect and security of the collector family.
The launch of Charan Paduka Vitran Yojana is a proof that the Chhattisgarh government is taking care of the needs, respect and dignity of the tendu leaf collector families. The aim of this scheme is not only to honour the women of tendu leaf collector families, but also to ensure the convenience of the collector women working in difficult geographical conditions.
Tendu leaves worth Rs 745 crore purchased
This year, the work of collecting tendu leaves in Chhattisgarh state started from the third week of April, which has now been successfully completed. Collection work was done in 10,631 phadas through 902 primary minor forest produce cooperative societies of the state. Although this year the crop was affected due to untimely rains, storm and hailstorm, despite this, more than 11.40 lakh tendu leaf collector families, with their dedication and hard work, collected and sold 13.54 lakh standard bags of tendu leaves in phadas, the total purchase value of which is Rs 745 crore. This amount is being paid to the collectors in their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. So far, an amount of more than Rs 300 crore has been transferred directly to the collectors’ accounts, the process of payment of the remaining amount is going on.b
