1.74 lakh saplings planted in Balod district under the campaign ‘One tree in the name of mother’

One lakh 74 thousand saplings were planted in the massive tree plantation cum forest festival program organized on the initiative of Balod district administration. Addressing the program on this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that this is a historic achievement for Balod district. He congratulated and wished all the people involved in this noble work. In the ceremony, Shri Sharma honored the people who made a significant contribution in the tree plantation work and also administered an oath to the people present to compulsorily plant saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and to ensure proper measures for their care and protection.
Addressing the program, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that when our mothers and sisters take a pledge, they leave it only after fulfilling that pledge. He praised this program wholeheartedly and said that when we, apart from our daily tasks, take up the task of completing such an important task in public interest with the sacred spirit of public welfare, then that work becomes an ideal and inspirational for everyone. Our future generations will continue to get the benefits of this sacred work forever. On this occasion, he interacted with the people who did remarkable work in the work of plantation through Webex and encouraged them.
While addressing the program, MP Shri Bhojraj Nag praised the program and said that as a result of climate change, its ill effects are being felt not only on mankind but on the entire living world. He said that it has been mentioned in our Puranas that the pious work of planting a tree is considered equal to having ten sons. He appealed to every citizen to join Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma and MP Shri Bhojraj Nag along with all the guests, common citizens, officers and employees planted saplings in the name of their mothers under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
Collector Smt. Divya Umesh Mishra said that Gurur development block is included in the critical zone in terms of ground water. To deal with the ground water crisis in future, a campaign is being run in Balod district under Jal Jatan Abhiyan. She told that Balod district is at third place in the whole country in the work of water conservation participation. Apart from the people of the district, she expressed gratitude to all the voluntary organizations and their representatives including Bhilai Steel Plant, Niko, ICICI Bank, Rice Mill Association for making the massive tree plantation program successful.
District Panchayat Chairperson Smt. Tarani Pushpendra Chandrakar, State Farmers Welfare Council Chairperson Mr. Suresh Chandravanshi, Municipal Council Balod Chairperson Mrs. Pratibha Choudhary, former member of National Child Protection Commission Mr. Yashwant Jain, former MLA Mr. Birendra Sahu and Mr. Pritam Sahu, District Chairperson Mrs. Saraswati Temaria along with many public representatives, Panchayat representatives and a large number of citizens were present at the function.
