Raipur, 27 May 2025
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said in a press conference held in Raigarh today under Sushasan Teej that the State Government’s decision of rationalization to improve the quality of school education is in the interest of the students.
The Chief Minister said that there is imbalance in the posting of teachers in the entire state. Some schools are without teachers, while some schools have only one teacher. There are many schools in the plains where there are more teachers than the number of children. We are trying to balance this. Some schools have several schools in the same campus, some have two or three primary schools, and some have no children. To remove this imbalance, we want to provide teachers everywhere, so what is wrong in this? It is also being said that schools are being closed. Such schools are in the same campus, and some have no children at all. We are making arrangements so that children will not have to go more than 500 meters away in urban areas and more than one kilometer away in rural areas due to rationalization.
The Chief Minister said that a misconception is also being spread that there will be no teacher recruitment after rationalization. The Chief Minister said that we will recruit teachers, the shortage that is there every year will be fulfilled in a phased manner. The proposal for teacher recruitment has been sent to the Finance Department, as soon as it is approved, we will recruit teachers. Rationalization is in the interest of children. This will remove the imbalance of teachers in schools and improve the quality of education.
It is worth noting that the Education Department has issued an order for rationalization of a total of 10,463 schools in the state, which includes 5849 schools of E-cadre and 4614 schools of T-cadre. This order has been implemented with immediate effect. This rationalization order is in line with the instructions of the National Education Policy 2020 and the Right to Education Act 2009, the main objective of which is to ensure balanced and effective use of teacher resources.
Under rationalization of schools, 10,297 schools operating in the same premises have been rationalized. Apart from this, 133 schools located within a radius of one kilometer in rural areas and 33 schools located within a radius of 500 meters in urban areas have also been rationalized. With this initiative, it will now be possible to deploy surplus teachers in teacherless and single teacher schools.
