BJP party councillors of Raipur Municipal Corporation today met Chairman Pramod Dubey where a letter was handed over under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Meenal Chaubey and a demand was made to hold a general meeting. BJP party councillors including Leader of Opposition Meenal Chaubey, Deputy Leader of Opposition Manoj Verma, Pramod Sahu have raised questions on the non-holdi

Leader of Opposition Meenal Chaubey said that MIC meetings are being held continuously under the chairmanship of the Mayor, in which the issues of the general public are not discussed. A general meeting was to be organized every two months, which is not being done by the Chairman. There is only one way for the public representatives to raise the problems of the public, that is why a demand has been made to hold a general meeting by submitting a letter today.

While raising questions on the topics discussed in the MIC meetings, Deputy Leader of Opposition Manoj Verma said that the issue of water problem and waterlogging was raised in the last budget. Even after that, people had to face water shortage in summer and waterlogging in rainy season like every year. In the MIC meeting, only distribution of money and going out for a walk is discussed.

Chairman Pramod Dubey has said that a circular has been issued to call a general meeting in the first week of September. Before this, councillors will be given 10 days to ask questions. The chairman has cited code of conduct and election as the reason for the general meeting not being held for the last four months, due to which the general meeting could not be held for a long time. However, by passing an order as soon as possible, a general meeting can be called in the first week of September.

What can be the issues of the general meeting

Problems related to wards including waterlogging in different areas of the capital, cleanliness of wards, shortage of water, bad roads, bad street lights, cattle sitting on roads and their maintenance, sterilization of dogs and construction of dog shelter in Sandongri can be the topic of discussion in the general assembly.
