Chief Minister reviewed the works of Public Works Department

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai reviewed the works of the Public Works Department today. In a review meeting held at the Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhawan), he directed the departmental officers to work swiftly and complete the works of roads, bridges and buildings within the time limit with good quality. He emphasized on fast and safe traffic on national highways and major roads. He instructed for quick marking and repair of bad roads with the use of AI and new technologies. Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Saw and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shri Subodh Singh also attended the review meeting.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai instructed to complete the works of roads and bridges at a fast pace keeping in mind the action plan for the next five years. He asked to compulsorily complete the works of roads and major bridges within one and a half to two years after land acquisition. He instructed to develop them on the lines of expressways by constructing sufficient number of overbridges and underbridges in the bypasses and ring roads being built near the cities. This will make the traffic fast and safe. Chief Minister Shri Sai directed to build good quality connecting roads to connect Raipur-Jagdalpur National Highway with the expressway being built to connect Raipur to Visakhapatnam under Bharatmala Project, so that the people of the state can get maximum benefit from this expressway.
While reviewing the progress of national highways under construction in the state, the Chief Minister directed to nominate one dedicated senior officer for each major and important project. He asked to work in better coordination with NHAI to expedite the work. He asked to work with the target of completing road development works worth Rs 30 thousand crore in the next three years. He instructed to set priority for the works provisioned in the new budget and complete their estimate, DPR and tender proceedings soon and start the work. Shri Sai also asked to make effective arrangements for the maintenance and repair of bridges. He asked to prepare the necessary protocol for this and strictly implement it. He asked to prepare a system for immediate identification of bad roads using AI and new technologies. This will help in maintenance and quick repair of roads. He emphasized on strengthening of roads in mining areas.
Chief Minister Shri Sai instructed to speed up the work of roads and bridges under construction in Bastar to strengthen the road network there. Construction of new roads and bridges will help people of remote forest areas to join the mainstream of development. In the review meeting, he instructed the departmental officers to upgrade circuit houses and rest houses as per the current needs and lifestyle. He asked to improve their good maintenance as well as cleanliness and other arrangements.  
Public Works Department officials informed in the review meeting that 95 percent civil and electrical mechanical work of the new building of Vidhan Sabha under construction in Naya Raipur has been completed. 60 percent work of the new Raj Bhawan has also been completed. Officials informed that a provision of Rs 106 crore has been made for road safety works in the current financial year. To prevent road accidents, black-spot and junction improvement works will be done on priority in the next five-six months. Secretary of Public Works Department Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Rahul Bhagat and Mr. Mukesh Bansal, Chief Engineer of Public Works Department Mr. V.K. Bhatphari and Joint Secretary Mr. S.N. All Chief Engineers including Srivastava were also present in the review meeting.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, in the review meeting of the Public Works Department, reviewed the progress of national highways in progress, works being done by NHAI, progress of roads, bridges and buildings under construction, infrastructure construction works of the Sports Department and the progress of works being done under CRIF, RRP (LWE) and RCPLWEA schemes and gave necessary instructions.
