Mr. Pandiram Mandavi, resident of Garhbengal in Bastar region, has been decorated with the Padma Shri award for the year 2025 by the Honorable President of the country, Smt. Draupadi Murmu. This award has been given to him for his wonderful and remarkable contribution in the field of tribal musical instrument manufacturing and woodcraft.
The efforts made by Shri Mandavi to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the traditional Gond and Muria society have not only given a national platform to the art of Bastar but have also provided a source of inspiration for generations to come.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai while congratulating Shri Mandavi said that this award is a proud symbol of tribal talent and cultural prosperity of Chhattisgarh. He said that artists like Shri Mandavi have proved through their hard work that our clay art can shine on the world stage. This Padma Shri award is an important achievement in the direction of bringing national pride to the folk tradition, crafts and cultural consciousness of Bastar.
