Chhattisgarh, known for its rich cultural heritage
Chhattisgarh, known for its rich cultural heritage

Chhattisgarh, which is known for its rich cultural heritage, dense forest area and diverse tribal communities, has been grappling with the challenge of Naxalism for a long time. Naxalism, which has been an obstacle in the development of Bastar, is now facing the final battle to eradicate Naxalism from here. Bastar division has a unique identity for its art and culture. Traditional dialects like Halbi, Godi, Bhatri Dolri are spoken in Bastar division alone. The beats of dhol and mandar will now be heard again in the Bastar region which has been disturbed for years. The Chhattisgarh government has resolved to make Bastar Naxal-free by March 2026. With a precise strategy, work is being done here to eliminate terrorism and for socio-economic development. The way people participated in events like Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum is proof of the fact that peace is now being established in Bastar.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai believes that “Our decisive fight against Naxalites to end the red terror is continuing in full swing. As a result, the back of Naxalites has been broken now. We will not sit quiet until Naxalite violence and extremism is eradicated from the state.”

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah had come to Chhattisgarh on 22 June 2025. During this, he said that the Naxalites who rest during the rainy season will not be able to sleep peacefully this rainy season. Naxal operations by the security forces will continue.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has said that Naxalism is now on its last legs in Chhattisgarh. He said that despite difficult challenges and inhospitable conditions, the brave soldiers of the security forces are taking the campaign to eradicate Naxalism towards historic success. He said that the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of our soldiers not only demonstrates the dedication of our soldiers, but also gives a positive message to the entire country that our country is now moving towards freedom from the shackles of Naxalism.

Naxalism has been broken by the killing of 26 Naxalites along with Maoist leader Basav Raju in the Abujhmad forest on 21 May 2025 in Chhattisgarh by security forces. A reward of Rs. 3.25 crore was declared on this. This is the first time in three decades that a Maoist of the rank of General Secretary has been neutralized. This is an extraordinary success and a clear indication that we have put the last nail in the coffin of Naxalism. Apart from this, top rewarded Naxalite Lakshmi Narasimha Chalam alias Sudhakar was also killed in a police encounter in the National Park area on 05 June 2025, there was a reward of Rs. 1 crore on this.

Niyyad Nella Nar (Your Good Village) scheme is proving to be a game changer in Naxal-affected areas. Basic resources like housing, hospitals, water, electricity, bridges, schools etc. are being provided to the villages and villagers within a radius of 5 km around the new camps established in the Maoist affected areas under 59 beneficiary-oriented schemes of 17 departments and 28 community facilities. On the initiative of the Chief Minister, students of Maoist terror-affected districts of Chhattisgarh will get interest-free loans for technical and vocational education.

In the last one and a half years, the security forces have bravely killed 438 Naxalites in the state. Also, 1515 Naxalites were arrested and 1476 Naxalites were forced to surrender. Our security forces are playing an important role in the fight against Naxalism. Through these camps, our government is succeeding in ensuring security as well as the reach of the schemes of the central and state governments to the interior villages.

Why is Poorvarti village special?

Poorvarti village, located in the inner and most sensitive area of Sukma district, was once the safest hideout of Naxalites. It has always been in the news as it is the native village of Hidma, a Naxalite with a reward of Rs. 1 crore on his head, and Deva, the mastermind of the Naxalite attack during the construction of Tekalguda camp. Due to the influence of Maoists, the government schemes were not reaching Poorvarti village, but now with the opening of a security camp in this village, the people here are getting basic facilities rapidly.

Naxal violence is the biggest obstacle to development in Bastar, which is rich in tribal population, unique natural beauty and natural resources. In the last 3 decades, Naxalites spread their feet here. They hindered development work with violence at gunpoint. Naxalites misled the innocent tribals for a long time through their false, hollow principles, tried to scare them by resorting to violence. They snatched children from their schools, snatched their childhood and pushed them on the path of violence. They ruined many families, destroyed the vermilion of married women, kidnapped daughters and took them on the path of violence. Due to this, Bastar, which is rich in resources, got the stigma of being one of the most backward areas of the country. But now the government led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai in Chhattisgarh is determined to completely eliminate this obstacle to development with strong will.

A new dawn of development is about to dawn in Bastar. The Naxalites have been defeated here. People will now get a prosperous Bastar. The police and security forces are standing with full courage on the Naxal front and soon the Naxalites will be completely wiped out.
