'The government is committed to provide nutrition to the children as well as a safe and bright future - Chief Minister Shri Sai'

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has said that the state government is fully committed to the nutrition of children and to provide them a safe and bright future. For the proper development of children, the Women and Child Development Department and the Health Department will have to work together in mutual coordination.

Chief Minister Shri Sai today conducted a high level review of the progress and implementation of the schemes of the Women and Child Development Department at the Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan and gave important instructions to the officials. He said that regular district-wise monitoring of schemes focused on women and children should be done at the secretary level and it will be thoroughly reviewed in the upcoming Collector Conference.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai inquired about the infrastructure, budget and ongoing schemes of the Women and Child Development Department. He said that the department plays a very important role from the point of view of nutrition and security of children, adolescents and women. He also said that the more sensitively and efficiently the care and nutrition of small children is done, the more effective and strong their physical and mental development will be.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that children are the foundation of our country’s future and everyone’s participation is necessary to strengthen this foundation. He instructed the departmental staff to work actively and with self-motivation at the ground level. He stressed on ensuring that every child of the state gets proper benefits of supplementary nutrition and departmental schemes.
He discussed in detail various points including nutrition diet, hot food, its quantity, quality and calorie standards to be distributed in Anganwadi centers and told the need for continuous monitoring of the distribution process.

Chief Minister Shri Sai inquired about the functioning of 197 Anganwadi centers being run under PM Janman Yojana and directed to work with sensitivity and commitment for the all-round development of the children of Special Backward Tribe (ST) community.

While reviewing the important indices related to the nutrition of children, Chief Minister Shri Sai talked about making concrete efforts to bring about the desired improvement. He said that it is possible to assess the real situation through indices, and wherever deficiencies are seen, prompt corrective steps should be taken.

Expressing happiness over the better performance in the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, the Chief Minister directed that this progress should continue in this manner. He said that small things and behaviour have a deep impact on the mental development of children, therefore Anganwadi workers should develop an emotional bond with children with sensitivity.

Chief Minister Shri Sai asked to ensure regular training of the departmental staff so that they can work result-oriented with technical proficiency and research based approach.

In the meeting, Child Marriage Free Chhattisgarh Campaign, Chief Minister Kanya Vivaah Yojana, Sakhi One Stop Center, Shakti Sadan, Women and Child Helpline, Mahila Kosh, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mission Vatsalya and other schemes were also reviewed.

On this occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. P Dayanand, Mr. Rahul Bhagat, Secretary of Women and Child Development Department Mrs. Shammi Abidi, Director Mr. P.S. Elma along with officers and employees of the department were present.
