Vows to Strengthen Journalists’ Rights, Press Freedom and Professional Unity Across the State

 

Raipur | July 6, 2026। Senior journalist Gangesh Kumar Dwivedi has been appointed as the Convenor of the Chhattisgarh State Unit of the National Union of Journalists (India) [NUJ(I)], on 3Rd of July 2026 marking a significant step towards strengthening the organization in the state.

Appointment by National Leadership

 

The appointment has been made after consultations and unanimous approval by the national leadership of NUJ(I). The official nomination letter has been issued under the signatures of NUJ(I) President Ras Bihari and Secretary General Pradeep Tiwari. The leadership expressed confidence that Dwivedi’s vast journalistic experience and organizational skills would help establish a strong and active state unit in Chhattisgarh.

Confidence in Experienced Leadership

Recognized for his decades-long contribution to journalism, Dwivedi has been entrusted with the responsibility of expanding NUJ(I)’s reach across the state. According to the national office bearers, his leadership is expected to strengthen the organization’s commitment to ethical journalism and the protection of journalists’ interest.

Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Gangesh Kumar Dwivedi said the responsibility goes beyond an organizational designation.

 “This is a commitment to uphold the dignity of journalism, safeguard journalists’ rights, protect press freedom, and strengthen ethical and independent media.

He emphasized that the organization would remain dedicated to addressing the professional and legal challenges faced by journalists.

Roadmap for Chhattisgarh Unit

Dwivedi outlined an ambitious plan for the newly formed state unit, which includes. Expansion of NUJ(I) chapters across all districts of Chhattisgarh. Bringing together journalists from print, electronic, digital, web, and photo journalism under one platform.

Providing legal assistance and institutional support to journalists. Organizing training programmes, workshops, and skill-development initiatives. Promoting journalists’ welfare, professional ethics, and media independence.

Appeal for Unity

Calling for collective participation, Dwivedi appealed to journalists across Chhattisgarh to unite under the banner of NUJ(I). He said a strong, democratic, and independent journalists’ organization is essential to protect media professionals and uphold the values of free and responsible journalism.
